Vintage Yellow Gold Ring with Blue Spinel
Vintage Italian 9K Yellow Gold & RARE Blue SPINEL ring (circa 1960-1970). This Gorgeous & RARE large oval cut Blue Spinel (approximately 0.80ct), is claw set in a large oval floral rosette filigree design setting, surrounded by a halo setting of no less than 18x White Topaz round cut gems, (approximate 0.10ct each). The halo setting is claw set atop a solid gold comfort fit design, resembling raised petals. This wonderful large, hand crafted Italian ring displays beautifully on a middle finger- the oval design elongates the finger and makes such a statement dress ring! In all our years of trading this is the first Blue Spinel we have come across- notably excited! Blue Spinel is one of the rare gemstones, as it is one of a very few blue gems that occur naturally, and requires no treatment for colour enhancing. Blue Spinel has a Mohs hardness similar to that of Diamonds- it is so very rare it commands a price accordingly. The best quality, when found, is from the Luc Yen district of Northern Vietnam. It is a wonderful sentimental gift, symbolizing Inner Peace and Truth, an investment, or alternative to an August birthday stone, the green Peridot.
