Victorian Sterling Silver Bookchain Collar & Keepsake Locket Pendant (circa 1865)- Aesthetic era Assay London Birmingham. This gorgeous Collector’s example of pure Victorian artistry is known as a Bookchain Collar- each articulated link folded over to resemble the pages of a book.
Normally crafted in Solid Gold or Silver, the Bookchains of a length to flatter a Ladies collar area of her dress- and so designed to accommodate a keepsake Pendant or Cameo. Our beautiful piece has a gorgeous Star – dot design link, again a tribute to the Celestial expanse, edged on each side by Silver balls. The collar ends in a generous large Bolt ring clasp, from where hangs
an extension chain, clipped to the original matching oval keepsake Pendant. This Locket is foliate engraved & is of a very generous size. The centre panel showcasing various applied Silver techniques. The interior to accommodate 2x photos. Closes securely. The remarkable design ensures the fit of the collar to be smooth to the skin, the run of the chain over your hand gives tribute to the pure artistry of this era!
