Victorian Silver & Rose Gold Celestial Mourning Brooch
This precious Brooch is adorned with beautiful Celestial detail! The central panel features an 8 pointed star in Rose gold. This star motif representing the overlapping of two 4 pointed stars- combined to create 8- the symbol of balance in Nature, the Heavens and Earth reflecting on each other. At each end of the Brooch, a waxing and waning crescent Moon. Centre of the star a repoussé mounted rose in tribute to rebirth and everlasting Love. Delicate engraving over the entire front panel. Small glass pane missing in posterior due to expected age related wear. Assay London Birmingham (c.1881). Maker Mark “TW”.
