Vintage Indian Silver Medallion Pendant
This beautiful circular pendant with floral bail and solid plate backing depicts the Hindu deity Kamadhenu – she is the bovine goddess described as the mother of all cows – a miraculous cow of plenty whom provides her owner with whatever they desire. In iconography, she is generally depicted as a white cow, with a female head and breasts, the wings of a bird and elements of a peafowl in her tail and hooves. She is not worshipped independently but rather regarded as an earthly embodiment. A beautiful medallion stamped for Sterling and signed by the artist.
