Antique Victorian Sterling Silver Albert Fob Chain & Silver Medallion Fob Pendant- (circa 1815) Assay London Birmingham – What an unusual handmade Gentleman’s Watch Fob chain- solid & unusual in it’s Trombone links, each link individually Hallmarked & interspersed with large curb & twisted oval links. The large shield design Fob Medallion is engraved with acanthus leaves & cartouche engraved with initials “RM”. Assay Birmingham circa 1841. **** These wonderful Albert Fob chains were worn in Victorian times on a waistcoat – the T-Bar threaded through a buttonhole & a Fob Watch attached. Often a Fob Seal, (engraved and used as a seal for written documents) was added to weigh down the chain. Today they are collected and worn as a neckpiece- the T -Bar and Dog Clips a focal point and in service of attachments such as collectable fob seals, intaglios & talismans.
