Antique Gold Brooch with Shell
Antique 9K Italian Yellow Gold Cameo Brooch (circa 1940-1950). What a gorgeous large Cameo depicting Helios, the Grecian God of the Sun, riding his golden chariot in the Heavens. Helios in mythology was tasked to bring the Sun- riding his chariot daily from the East (Ethiopia) to the West (Hesperiedes). This fine carving has a gorgeous representation of the scene, Helios’ 4 steeds galloping on the clouds, a tiny Putti or angel lighting a torch as the Sun meets the day. Mounted in a generous gold frame.
