Antique Dionysus with Gryphons and Cherubs Silver Necklace

RARE!! Gorgeous Antique Silver Necklace- For all lovers of Myth & Lore- this mesmerising Silver necklace by Italian Art Deco Silversmith Guglielmo Cini (circa 1920) shows his masterful techniques in repoussè and casting skills. Dionysus, mythological God of Wine, sits centre of the design, his piercing eyes, horns and moustache demanding attention! Flanked by 2 small cherubs emerging from conch shells (or drinking horns) – symbolising female fertility. 2 Gryphons perch above scrolled detail, ever watchful. The central panel hangs suspended from a stylised Victorian chain, ending in a secure clasp. Such large Cini pieces are rare, with mostly small brooches currently available in the market.
